I grew up in a hall that eventually split into two. I remember when I was a kid, that were quite a few interested people that would come in on Sundays. The last few years only saw a few bible studies that hung on for years but never got baptized. The small 2 day assemblies baptisms started to become a little bit smaller along with the diversity of age.
The society used to say the shuffling of who attended what assembly, was to "widen out" our association of brothers. But it makes more sense that they didn't want us to know that attendance was changing.
The only time I see witnesses on my street is on saturdays ( and that is few and far in between) and they are from the spanish congregation. Walking sooooo slooooow as they go to one house or so on the street that is marked for them.
Can't say what else is going on with them recently.

Is attendance down in your location too?
by StarryNight9 ini was commenting on another thread about how local kh attendance is down.
memorial attendance was also way down and the circuit assembly had hundreds less people than what is typical.
my jw family has even mentioned it.

Humans only survive for 3-5 days without water...
by purrpurr inand yet today's watchtower and indeed the bible condemns the israelites for moaning about having no water!
it's never occurred to me how unjust this is!
and how could a so called loving god not provide a basic human need?!.

Perry - So god used Pharaoh to build trust in the Israelites. If the Israelites weren't so stubborn and non trusting, Pharaoh wouldn't have suffered all of the plagues. So it was israelites fault that the servants and animals of pharaoh as well as the firstborns, died. Makes sense.
Just for fun

purrpurr - Oh and this stupid thing of Moses's word choice of "we" rather than say "god" seriously! ? One word slip in the heat of the moment was enough to ban him from the promised land? After he had done so much and been through so much for his god and his god disowns him after one slip up!
This is one of the reasons that JW's today, have a fear that all it would take is one mistake and they would be dead forever. My Jw coworker is very afraid that it will happen to her. I even thought that and I've heard others express it too. Yet, Hitler will be resurrected and all sorts of bad people that did whatever they wanted. That always bothered me.
Perry - It took a lot of work on God's part to secure their release. Even then, it was not enough....blood had to be spilled to experience freedom. Freedom isn't free.
Please, it took a lot of work? It isn't like god was a human and had to bribe people under the table or mastermind a coup. He didn't even have to do the ten plagues to prove that he was "better" than the gods of Egypt. After making the universe and life on earth, God could have simply made the Egyptians unable to move while the Israelites walked out. Bam. Shouldn't have God taken the high road and done it without bloodshed? Not only Egyptians were killed but animals too. But I guess a God that kills all the humans on earth with a flood with all of the poor animals, has to stick with his MO.

Blueblades Pacemaker Update.
by Charles Gillette inwell,to all who had wished me good health before i went for my procedure, thank you.
9/14 pacemaker was inserted below my collarbone successfully.check up will be 9/18.. so, since 2012 when i was 67,i had open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve with a bovine tissue valve.
now at 73, i have an implanted pacemaker with two leads, one for the upper chamber, right atrium and one for the lower right chamber, ventricle of the heart.. so, my heart beats should now be steady and not in and out of afib.. both of my brothers died of heart attacks.

Good to hear that it was a successful operation. It's stressful to have something so important as your heart, being erratic.
Enjoy your healthy beating heart.

Watson. Here is one of my experiences
by moley ina little backstory.
please comment, is the just childish imagination or something unexplainable.. when i was nine we lived in modbury, it’s a small town, in devon the southwest of britain.
we lived in a very hold house, several hundred years old and down the way was 2 battle sites of the english civil war (one a minor battle won by the royalist and a larger battle won by the parliamentarians which ultimately lifted the siege of plymouth).

From my own experiences, there is something that skirts around the "normal" life we live. What it is or why it exists, I don't have a clue.

Dis-fellowshipped For Not Going To The Kingdom Hall You Are Assigned Too
by new boy inmy parents started attending the glendora congregation in 1961. my mother had a strange feeling about the congregation.

As a kid, we were told we couldn't even use the pool at the YMCA - that would be involving ourselves in false religion.
Yet the WT gets a library card from the big mighty UN - the "image of the Wild Beast"
A case of "do as I say, but not as I do"
By the way, I mostly clicked on this thread just so I could be entertained by doubter.

I was in bed when my sister came and said that a plane had hit the world trade tower. It was all surreal. The next plane came. Surprisingly it seemed to just be absorbed by the building. But I thought of the people above the plane. With strong updrafts from the fire, nothing could land on top of the building to rescue anyone that made it there.
It's hard to encompass that large of a disaster. I imagined how the people on the plane had watched the building come into view and could do nothing. People who had just sipped their morning coffee at their desk - gone in an instant. Jet fuel burning their lungs and body. People panicking to escape. The sad reality of burning alive or jumping.
I didn't really think of Armageddon happening at that moment. Although later, since I didn't think I would survive Armageddon, there was a fear it would come.
Did anyone else see the footage from the french man who had come to do a documentary on the fire department? He was with a crew that went to the scene. They went into the in between building of the towers. People were coming down stairs to exit and the crew started to set up a command station. The building they were in, had a glass roof. All of a sudden, there were crashes from above. The fire chief made the comment, "there are jumpers" That showed how bad the situation was. I don't think it had a repeat showing on TV.

The Wizard of Oz
by I Faded Twice indoes anyone else see the similarities between the wizard of oz and the gb?.
it's kind of like when the curtain is removed and you find out it's all smoke and mirrors.
plus dorothy wakes up at the end!.

Yes many here have found the curtain scene "revealing". Have you ever read Animal Farm by George Orwell? The WT follows the same pattern as the pigs. George knew what he was writing about!

Influence of Babylon the Great is only increasing
by Ireneus inaccording to jw teaching, babylon the great is the name for all other religions except themselves and predicted its influence over governments would wane in the last days.
yet we find just opposite happening!.
we saw russian government acting against jws, we saw president trump’s swearing in ceremony where church official had central stage ….etc.. here is another sample!

I've heard a few talks about how Babylon the Great has Fallen from years ago.
But apparently, she's gotten up again and ran off in her high heels.
